JAMA EDUCATION
The purpose of the Jamaican Association of Massachusetts educations committee:
o Promote common interests of school and community education for Jamaican Diasporas.
o Improve access to education for marginalized groups: girls, women, persons with disability, minorities, etc.
o Empower diasporas to act on educational initiatives.
o Develop productive links to local and Jamaican government authorities and other external agencies.
o Increase diasporas awareness of the educational disparity in Massachusetts and Jamaica.

JAMA EDUCATION FORUM MAY 20TH, 2023
JAMA'S Education team-Special Education Symposium-May 20th 2023:The goal is to educate parents and caregivers of children with special education needs of the available resources from pre-k to college.How to understand what is an IEP — an Individualized Education Program.How to properly diagnose a child to ensure they get the services needed.IEP students get lost when they go to colleges- how to find the proper resources after high school. Which colleges best serve students with IEP needs.Diversity and Diaspora students already face with ESL ( English as a Second Language) coupled with an IEPThe Goal is to invite experts in the field of the IEP process and procedures to start a series of conversations and to gather potential resources to assist the diaspora students, their families and teachers to streamline the EIP process. We are expecting 50-75 participants.
